What is the cost of a cybersecurity breach to the average small business? The Denver Post reports an average cost of $600,000 to a business hit by an attack, with 60% of companies out of business as a direct result of a security breach.

And, even though some attacks come without warning, other companies find they have plenty of warning to remedy the situation.

This was the case for a manufacturer who’s hosting provider hadn’t updated their server in a long time. The outdated server, plugins, theme and other neglected areas of their website enabled hackers to gain access. A Google penalty was looming and then it happened.
